Name: Alonzo Romero
Company: The Predictive Company
What are you building, and who benefits most from it?
The Predictive Company (TPC) offers a SaaS solution for energy optimization and predictive maintenance based on artificial intelligence (AI). It can be implemented in any type of non-residential building, leading to a reduction of costs and CO2 emissions of up to 30% without the need to install any type of hardware.
TPC is intended for energy service companies (ESCOs) and facility management services as an indirect business model to reach a larger customer base with less commercial effort at first. They are interested in adding extra sophistication to their services and are attractive to us as they already manage thousands of buildings.
Besides the ESCOs, operators such as facility management, maintenance, engineering, and software companies participate in advising on the reduction of energy consumption; therefore, they could also operate as service distributors if TPC does not do it directly.
What is one of your startup’s most impressive accomplishments?

We have been recently selected in the open innovation challenge of Sacyr, so we will collaborate with the company. Also, we are very proud to have participated in 2021/22 in the AI4CITIES project, helping big EU capitals (Helsinki, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, etc.) in the development of a sustainable solution to their emission challenges.
What has been the biggest challenge so far, and how did you overcome it?
COVID has been a turning point for many companies, but our capacity to adapt and react made the difference, allowing us to endure as a business.
What tool or app could you not live without and why?
We promote a hybrid working model, and we have part of the team in different cities, so TEAMS is the tool that allows us to maintain contact.
What marketing strategies have worked for you?
Our marketing focus is very sales-oriented, and our leads come from many different sources and approaches, but LinkedIn has clearly shown to be the right place to amplify our news.
What’s the best specific piece of advice you have for other entrepreneurs?
Keep your sense of humor—it will save you.
What does your company’s trajectory look like over the next five years?
We want to grow internationally. Our solution is scalable as we don’t need to install anything (it’s just an exchange of data in the cloud), and we can manage buildings regardless of their location. Then one of the big facility management companies or ESCOs we collaborate with might decide to acquire us…
